ProTEQ Custom Gear was founded in February 2013 when owner Stephen Brannan saw a need for more quality products and service in the high-demand defense market. Stephen has served as both a design, test, and production support engineer for Knight's Armament Company for 5 years and for FN for 5 years, and is now continuing to do so as a privately contracted engineer for multiple companies in the industry.  So in 2013 with nearly a lifetime background in firearms training paired with his experience in the industry and the best mechanical engineering degree he could find from Rose Hulman (BSME, 2009), Stephen decided to dive into the market.  The goal of ProTEQ Custom Gear is not just to create another business to meet market demand, but to use a God-given vision to provide products, training, and consultation that may help save lives. Now with a dedicated staff and product development team testing and evaluating new products in the background, ProTEQ Custom Gear is helping bring that vision to life.  The shop was originally started in the garage of a rental house in Florida, then moved to a 10x12 shed in South Carolina, then moved to a portion of the business office at the ProTEQ Ranch, then finally to its brand new current 1,500 square foot facility on the Ranch.  Below are some photos of Stephen's time at FN, along with a photo of the shop in SC.  We'll add more in the future.

Shooting Range:

ProTEQ Firearms Academy was officially founded by my father, Don Brannan, in 1990, but the range has existed since 1973.  That's when Dad and Grandpa Leo purchased the 60 acres across the road from Grandpa's farm in West Central Indiana.  It's been developed into 7 valleys, providing shooting opportunities in calibers from rimfire to 50BMG, over distances from 3 to 500 yards.   It is home to several individual & commercial customers, Law Enforcement Customers, and Military Customers.  We are a family-friendly range focused on the individual liberties necessary to promote healthy training, while maintaining proper safety.   Access is through paid annual membership (365 days from your completed and paid Range Release Date).  Memberships start at $60 for the standard West Valley ONLY option, up to the Platinum Plus version at $250 for access to 6 of the valleys.    We have a private ranch just outside the basement door.  That is where I took my first shot at age 2 1/2 and started training at age 4.   Dad, my older sister, and I spent hundreds of hours shooting tiny targets with 22 Rifles.   GREAT MEMORIES!!!
